Serving At The Crossroads

Living Water… but first you must smite the rock!

Starting with a methodical approach to the drilling processExodus 17:6 says, “Behold, I will stand before thee there upon the rock in Horeb; and thou shalt smite the rock, and there shall come water out of it, that the people may drink.” We have witnessed a similar miracle in La Entrada. Just as God was with the Israelites at Horeb, He certainly has been standing with the people of La Entrada as they “smited the rock.” HydroSistema, a well drilling contractor from San Pedro Sula began drilling the well in mid-September. The well is now completed and it will produce up to 100 gallons per minute – far beyond our wildest expectations.

Tracking the depth and examining rock core samplesHearing about our need for sourcing high quality water at our new clinic site, Bill Stallings, the operator of West Chester Manufacturing in Avondale, PA, donated a pump with fittings and piping for the well head. Bill recognized that he could make a difference in the lives of the people in La Entrada by seeing that our patients would have access to clean water.

The members of the Manos Amigas Board of Directors recognize that they now not only have a source of high quality water for their new clinic, but they also regard it as an asset. They have been discussing novel ways in which they could share this resource with the community as well as use it as an enterprise that would generate funds to help in creating sustainability for the clinic.

12 days later, a gusher!
